Guided Nature Trails
Whether your interest is birding, wildflowers or wildlife photography, Little Pine offers guided informative nature walks. Our experienced guides will take you to incredible vistas, gentle cascades, waterfalls, majestic ancient forests, crystal clear mountain streams, old home sites, graveyards and hidden trails.
The Equestrian Center
Located across from the gates of The Preserve at Little Pine, The Equestrian Center will be the perfect place to saddle up a horse and explore the mountain. Under construction now, this fully staffed facility will feature 20 stalls, an indoor riding ring, turn out paddocks and a seemingly endless network of trails, meadows, pastures and farm land to roam. Boarding, grooming and riding lessons are all available, providing a true North Carolina equestrian estate experience within our mountain community.

The General Store
The Preserve at Little Pine will have an “Honest Abe” style general store, so you won’t have to leave this wonderful mountain community to stock up on the essentials. Construction on the general store will begin soon.
Stone Creek Campground
Stone Creek Campground offers spacious, wooded sites that can accommodate both recreational vehicles and tent campers. Enjoy an outdoor cookout with family and friends under the covered pavilion or roast s’mores by the fire pit. Stone Creek Campground is a perfect spot for wading or simply relaxing.
The Mountain Lodge
The crowning jewel of The Preserve at Little Pine will be the Grassland Mountain Lodge resting high atop Grassland Mountain at 4,200 feet. Under construction now, this majestic gathering space was modeled after the enduring American lodges of the early 1900s.
The lodge will offer a gourmet warming kitchen for family and friends to prepare a delectable meal together as well a massive stone fireplace for cool fall evenings. Enjoy stargazing from the lounge through a live digital television feed from the adjacent state-of-the-art observatory. With 60 mile and 360 degree views, it’s no wonder The Preserve at Little Pine offers some of the finest mountain land for sale in Western North Carolina.
The Observatory
Adjacent to the Grassland Mountain Lodge and under construction now is Little Pine's award-winning observatory with an electric roll-off roof and a warm room. Located at 4,200 feet elevation, the observatory will be equipped with a 16-inch Meade f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, attached to a Paramount ME robotic mount on a permanent pier. A laptop computer will control the telescope. The guidescope is a William Optics 90mm Megrez f/6.9 APO Refractor.
The observatory will also feature a portable TeleVue-NP101 f/5.4 APO Refractor, an excellent multi-purpose photo and visual telescope. Unique to the mountain communities of Western North Carolina, the observatory at The Preserve at Little Pine contains one of the most powerful telescopes in all of Western North Carolina.
Ward Pavilion
Enjoy a delicious BBQ at one of Little Pine's frequent community cook-outs held at the W.C. Ward Pavilion, a recreational spot inside the preserve community. The pavilion features a complete outdoor Viking kitchen, a central stone fireplace, a stocked trout pond and restrooms. The unique outdoor living space is a wonderful place to enjoy an afternoon or evening with your family, neighbors and friends.
Guided Eco Tours
Discover the beauty and ecological diversity of Little Pine with the help of one of our naturalists. Our mountain “backyard” provides the protection, water and shade necessary to create one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems on the planet. With an estimated 100,000 different species of plants and animals residing here, there is an entire world of ecological discovery waiting to be explored.
Reciprocated Amenities
For a nominal fee, your family and friends may enjoy the rich amenities of French Broad Crossing, our sister property located on the French Broad River, just a short drive away. The River Lodge at French Broad Crossing offers spectacular high bluff views of the river valley, generous areas to gather with family and friends as well as a fully-equipped fitness center, free-style pool and hot tub.
The French Broad River Park and Pavilion provides easy access to the waters, whether you want to try your hand at fly fishing, kayaking, white water rafting or tubing. Enjoy a game of horseshoes or volleyball, then fire up the grill by the covered picnic pavilion and enjoy a leisurely cookout by the river.
Concierge Program
The Preserve at Little Pine Concierge Program is available to help you prepare for an upcoming visit. Just a simple call or e-mail will make sure that your water, heat or air conditioning is on; wood is in your fireplace; driveways, walkways, and decks are cleaned off; or your favorite groceries items are ready for your return. The Little Pine Concierge Program allows you to simply walk into your home and begin enjoying it right away.
Lock and Leave
The Lock and Leave service at The Preserve at Little Pine makes it easy for you and your guests to leave your home by making sure that your water is turned off; doors and windows are locked; trash is collected; and the security system is engaged. As needed and requested, your home may also be winterized.
